Oscar and Grammy winner, a composer, genuine orchestrator and music director, a conductor of film and orchestral music, a person, having created greatest film hits for Titanic and Avatar. This is James Roy Horner. The composer was born on August 14, in far 1953 in Los Angeles, USA, in a family of Jewish immigrants. His father was an occasional film director, production and set designer. It was him who focused the interest of little James on music and film industry. The boy started his music career early at the age of five playing piano. James spent his childhood in London attending Royal College of Music. After earning a master’s degree, James worked at his doctorate in the University of California. After a few successful scoring assignments with the industry leading American Film Institute he completely turned to film music scoring.
His major film score was for the most romantic project of 1979 – The Lady in Red. After this great success Horner gained notice in Hollywood and the composer was engaged in the greatest film project of the 20th century – Star Trek (The Wrath of Khan). In this project the young musician established himself as a mainstream composer.

The horror film Aliens brought the composer his first Academy Award. Still the composer describes as the most stressful nightmare in his career. But fortunately the composer went back from his word and made several successful projects with James Cameron again. Thus the world saw Titanic and Avatar. The Avatar score took more than two years of Horner’s career. The composer recognized Avatar the most difficult film and music project in his career and the biggest and hardest job he had ever undertaken.
23.06.2015 James Horner dies in Plane Crash. Horner was piloting the small aircraft when it crashed into a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, in the Los Padres national forest.
